Black and White Tutorial

Ever wanted to create an awesome black and white effect on your images? If you want to achieve that effect, you can follow these simple steps to create that awesome effect on any of your graphics and images! :3

Step 1:
If you haven't done so already, get your image ready! I used a 300x100 cropped image of the Pokemon Mystery Dungeon cover!

Step 2:
Next, use the paint bucket and create a new layer. Then, apply the whole image with the paint bucket using the color #000000, or black. Once you're complete with that, apply the Saturation blend mode on the black layer of your work so far.

You can either stop here, but if you would like to make the image lighter, then continue on.

Step 3:
Now that you're done applying the main black and white effect, it's time to fix the little imperfections. First, go to the Channels tab near your Layers tab. When you're on the Channels tab, play around with the RBG channels, trying to pick each color at a time. For this tutorial, I picked the Blue channel only, but each work under different circumstances, so have fun and experiment with it!

This is how your image should turn out:

Hope you had a fun time using this effect and I hope you can apply it to your graphics!
