Photoshop Tools

New to Photoshop? This will give you an idea of how all of the tools of Photoshop work and how to utilize them to create graphics and layouts!

The first tool is called the Move tool. You can use it to move things around your image and even move images!

The second tool is called the Rectangular Marquee tool. You can use it to make shapes that you can fill with color. If you right-click on it, you can get 3 more options: Elliptical Marquee Tool, Single Row Marquee Tool, and Single Column Marquee Tool.

The third tool is called the Lasso tool. You can use it to grab a certain part of an image. If you right-click on it, you can get 2 more options: Polygonal Lasso Tool and the Magnetic Lasso Tool, both great tools for extracting images. You can also use the lasso to make shapes that cannot be made using the Marquee tools.

The fourth tool is called the Quick Selection tool. You can use it to grab an image really quickly. If you right-click on it, you get one more option: the Magic Wand tool, which can select a part of an image, and can also be used for removing the solid colored background from images.

The fifth tool is called the Crop tool. You can use it to crop a certain part of an image.

The sixth tool is called the Slice tool. You can use it to separate parts of a canvas into different parts, which is great for separating parts of your layout. If you right-click on it, you can also get one more option: the Slice Select tool.

The seventh tool is called the History Brush tool. You can use it to recreate something that you have done before using that source data. If you right-click on it, you can also get the art history brush, which helps you achieve cool effects on images.

The eighth tool is called the Eraser tool. You can use it to erase parts of an image, hence the name Eraser tool. If you right-click on it, you can get 2 more options: the Background Eraser tool and the Magic Eraser tool.

The ninth tool is called the Paint Bucket tool. You can use it to easily fill color into your graphics and into a marquee. If you right-click on it, you can get the Gradient tool, which can add gradients to a certain layer.

The tenth tool is called the Blur tool. You can use it to easily blur images, for any reason that you desire. If you right-click on it, you get the Sharpen and Smudge tools, which sharpens and smudges an image, respectively.

The eleventh tool is called the Burn tool. You can use it to darken a section of an image with ease. If you right-click on it, you can get 2 more options: the Dodge and Sponge tool. The Dodge tool brightens images, while the Sponge tool improves the colors of a section of an image.

The twelfth tool is called the Pen tool. You can use it to make cool shapes and it is a useful tool for cutting out an image. If you right-click on it, you can get 4 more tools, the Freeform Pen tool, the Add Anchor Point tool, the Delete Anchor Pen tool, and the Convert Point tool.

The thirteenth tool is called the Horizontal Type tool. You can use it to add any text to your graphics. If you right-click on it, you get 3 more options: Vertical Type tool, Horizontal Type Mask tool, and Vertical Type Mask tool!

The fourteenth tool is called the Path Selection tool! You can use it to select any path that you've made using the Pen tool! If you right-click on it, you can get another option: the Direct Selection tool.

The fifteenth tool is called the Rectangle tool! You can use it to create.. rectangles! If you right-click on it, you get more options to create different shapes: the Rounded Rectangle tool, the Ellipse tool, the Polygon tool, the Line tool, and the Custom Shape tool!

The sixteenth tool is called the Notes tool. You can use it to create notes on your graphics if you want to take note of anything. If you right-click on it, you can get another option: the Audio Annotation tool!

The seventeenth tool is called the Eyedropper tool. You can use it to pick up a color that you find cool to use. If you right-click on it, you get three more options: the Color Sampler tool, which samples colors, the Ruler tool, which can help you measure, and the Count tool!

The eighteenth tool is called the Hand tool! If an image is too large to fit your whole screen, you can use it to easily move the graphic!

The nineteenth tool is called the Zoom tool! If an image is too little to fit your screen, you can use it to zoom into it to get a better view. This tool is also useful for rendering an image because it helps you magnify your image for easier rendering.
